Birds Eye Iglo

Iglo Group is the European Market Leader in frozen foods. Our iconic brands - Birds Eye in the UK, Findus in Italy, and Iglo across the rest of Europe, are meeting the growing demand for healthy, convenient and sustainable food.

As one of the pioneers of the modern frozen food industry we're credited with inventing a fast freezing process that preserves the quality of food. We were founded by General Foods, which in 1929 bought the rights to use this fast-freezing process, patented by Clarence Birdseye. In Nov 2006, after years of under investment, our business was sold by Unilever to Permira for €1.7bn & Martin Glenn was appointed CEO. Martin was recognised as “Most Influential Marketeer 1978 – 2008” by Marketing Week’s 30 year anniversary award in 2008. His vision is that our turn around will be truly Marketing led.

Our products are bought by millions every day. Today the group has a turnover of £1.1bn, and our key markets of UK, Italy, Germany and Austria together represent over 80% of group turnover.

Our ambition is to establish a premium brand and clearly differentiate ourselves from competitors who offer commodity products. We operate a ‘virtuous circle’ with five imperatives driving our business decisions:

1. Clear focus on our core market segments of Fish, Poultry and Vegetables

2. Operate a category / country matrix

3. Focus branding behind one brand equity

4. Drive business simplicity by driving big idea innovation

5. Hire and develop great people
