The iSite team is a key part of the BBC’s content management strategy, delivering powerful and flexible tools driving many of the organisations most popular products. BBC Future Media News and Knowledge is looking for an experienced, professional and enthusiastic developer to join a world-class team responsible for delivering next-generation content management and content delivery tools.
As a member of the iSite team you will have technical design and development responsibilities for the content management system that drives many sites across bbc.co.uk. In particular you will be developing a sophisticated and dynamic web application using the latest technologies and best practices
The role requires an excellent knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, CSS, accessibility, web standards, and experience of working in an agile team delivering large scale web applications using TDD & BDD. Good PHP and Zend skills are also required, and experience of application development using REST.
You will have extensive experience writing software for dynamic web applications using PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, JSON and XML
You will have an enthusiasm for working in a TDD/BDD focused environment, alongside a high achieving agile development team. You will be comfortable working with rapid release cycles and challenging deadlines. Experience with Extreme Programming techniques and Pair Programming are highly desirable.
You will have a good understanding of REST web service usage and design, and experience of developing code within a UNIX environment (ideally CentOS/Red Hat). You will be at ease using automated build systems, version control systems, issue tracking tools and wikis to organise and streamline your work.
You will be self-motivated with good organisational skills, attention to detail and an emphasis on quality.
