Are you an exciting and forward thinking Web Developer? News and Knowledge would like you to be a part of their team. As a Web Developer in the Homepage, Search and Navigation team you will work alongside other developers and be responsible for writing world class HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP. Working in a multi-disciplinary team with Product Managers, Project Managers, Technical Architects and Test Engineers you will liaise with the product team to ensure the development of new features run smoothly and that your work meets the technical standards for all BBC.

News and Knowledge (N&K) is the department within BBC Future Media responsible for the following BBC Online products: News, Sport, Weather, Knowledge & Learning, CBBC, CBeebies, BBC Homepage and Search. We manage and develop products on websites, mobile devices and interactive TV, have a world-leading approach to content management and metadata, and are delivering the London 2012 Olympics across BBC Online.

The ideal candidate will have experience of Test Driven Development and automated Acceptance Tests with Cucumber. They will have the ability to write good quality OO code including patterns and refactoring. With a healthy interest in upcoming web standards and technology, they will have excellent PHP programming skills, with good knowledge of design patterns found in the Zend Framework. They will have excellent JavaScript programming skills, with knowledge of developing modular applications and strong HTML/CSS skills and dynamic stylesheets (LESS). With an understanding of responsive design and cross-browser compatibility issues, they will be familiar with Extreme Programming and working within a collaborative team. They will have the ability to work with Product Owners and developers to write Acceptance Criteria and the ability to pair with developers with a range of ability and knowledge. They would have good understanding of CI and experience of using a CI system (Hudson, Jenkins) and understanding of revision control systems (svn, git)
